Who am i?
My name is Ethan Dunton, and I’d love to share a bit about myself! I grew up in Westwood, Massachusetts and have lived there for my entire life. I am an Eagle Scout with Troop 1 Islington. I graduated from Westwood High School in 2023, and I am a third-year student at the University of Florida pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering, where I maintain a GPA of 3.96/4.00. I am currently taking a semester off from college, working as a Systems Engineering Co-Op with RoviSys Building Technologies in Peachtree City, Georgia.
WHY AEROSPACE ENGINEERING?
I vividly remember the day my passion for rocketry and Aerospace Engineering started - I was four years old at a friend’s house, watching a show about the Apollo 11 mission. That night, I declared to my father that I wanted to be a “rocket scientist”, and my goals have never shifted since then. Like most engineers, I preferred science and math classes throughout grade school, so it was a very easy decision to decide to study Aerospace Engineering in college. Now, I’ve honed in on what that means to me a bit more - I am very interested in pursuing a controls/avionics/GNC career. My current co-op is very controls-based (I go more into detail about that in my Portfolio page) so I am now seeking related internships/positions in the Aerospace industry.
Hobbies/Passions
Outside of engineering and academics, I’m extremely involved with music. I’ve been playing saxophone since I was 10 years old, and more recently I’ve gotten very into songwriting and playing guitar. I’m in a rock band called “Key 95” at UF where I play both bass guitar and saxophone, and one of my favorite things to do is join other live bands on saxophone for a couple of songs. I’m currently working on my first album, “The Fallen Angels Bar and Grille”, and I’m hoping to have the first 5—song EP “F.A.B.N.G. I” out in the next few months!
Aside from music, I love spending time/going on trips with friends, skiing, and playing ultimate frisbee.
Prior Work experience
Throughout my life, I’ve held several positions, the most recent of which being my Systems Engineering Co-Op with RoviSys Building Technologies in Peachtree City, Georgia, which I go more into detail about in my Portfolio page. Before that, I worked part time/seasonally as a retail sales associate with L.L. Bean in Dedham, MA from October 2020 until January 2025. At this position, I learned how to engage with customers, maintain company standards, and use corporate technology. I also worked seasonally as a lifeguard with Hale Education from May 2023 until August 2025, where I learned how to be a functional member of a team and make quick, effective decisions under immense pressure and in intense, stressful situations.
